Mom came downstairs at 0755 with the cordless phone in her hand and the number to our brand new dentist. (When McGraw-Hill bought FT Energy, Dad switched insurance. So our new insurance will support exactly one dentist in the Boulder area, which inconviently wasn't the one we had before. (And we had just gotten a stable dentist after switching every year or so for several iterations.) I queried if they had any openings that I could squeeze into to get a teeth cleaning. They didn't, so I went back to bed, but before I could finish checking my e-mail, they called back and said they had a cancellation for an 0800 appointment. I took it and made it to the appointed location within a few minutes for my cleaning. I returned to the Boulder Compound shortly after 0900 and went back to bed. I didn't wake up again until after 1200.
Mom dropped me off at the United Artists theater in Boulder. I picked up the tickets ordered online and enqueued myself for the 1545 showing. (It was about 1420.) I read The Two Towers, which I really need to finish before tomorrow night so I can leave this copy with Willy so he can have something entertaining to read. (I suppose the odds are that Willy won't finish said book before I catch up with him again in Sacramento, which means I could take that copy and read it on the plane instead of waiting until I get Gem's copy.) We got admitted to the designated auditorium at 1450. I picked out six seats in the sixth row from the front and waited for something to happen. At 1505 I headed back out into the lobby and successfully spotted Willy's friend Heather (who was dressed up as the lady Galadriel) and handed her the tickets and instructed her to wait for Mom, Bethany, and Willy, who were coming from Fairview after picking Willy up.
The auditorium filled, but there were still empty seets. I was impressed with the movie; it was a decent adaptation, although I think they missed a few easy scenes that would have added extra plot lines. The visuals were amazing. Wow. Now I can't wait to finish the last two books and see the next two movies. (On a related note, I was interested by the Episode II ("Forbidden Love", not the pathetic "Deep Breathing") trailer I saw. Trailers are so much more impressive when seen on the big screen instead of a postcard-sized movie on one's computer.)
added on to the end of it.
