I 0wn MPI.
(Don't mind me; I'm just having entirely too much fun with l337sp33k at the moment. It probably has something to do with sleep deprivation, or maybe just the fun of running on Tokyo time, on which it's about my bedtime. Which could explain the fact that the sun just rose, but I don't feel absurdly tired. Just marginally tired, and rather hungry.)
(I wonder how many hits I'll get from script kiddies once Google finds this page.)
It's 0610 and I'm still in the CS lab. I haven't left Kretschmar since 2300 last night, when I fetched an unopened two-liter bottle from my dorm room. I rendezvoused with Swinyar in the computer science lab at 1930 last night, when he returned from Seattle. We sat down to work furiously on parallel and distributed computing, for which astute readers will remember that I have a final for in about one hour and forty-five minutes. The idea was to get as much done as we possibly could to demonstrate it in the final in an attempt to wow our professor and fellow classmates. I put together an n-body simulation, which tracks the course of various astronomical bodies that react to various rules of movement. Unfortunately, it has the tendency to launch planets off at high velocities, which makes the simulation rather uninteresting rather fast. I thought about various methods for picking which bodies were actually interesting, but nothing compelling came to mind. So I've decided to STFP. Ship The Product. (The 'F' is silent.)
Great. I don't have enough time to really sleep, but too much time to surf or changelog or do something like that. Perhaps I should throw together an Xlib interface to Swinyar's implementation of the Game of Life. Or maybe work on something for some other class. Or maybe just eat. (Except that I doubt the cafeteria is open yet.) I'm sure I'll think of something.
