I'm sitting in the port middle seat of our golden Honda Odyssey in the parking lot of the Jenny Lake visitor's center in Grand Teton National Park. When we got here, it was raining and I was absurdly tired, so I had no real desire to go on any sort of hike. Willy and I stayed in the car while Mom, Dad, and Bethany headed out. I rested for a while before breaking out and finishing Snow Crash. (I started re-reading it Wednesday when I took Yoda to Grease Monkey.)
We're up here for a Rocky Mountain Conference-arranged river trip. We're staying at the Gros Ventre campground (car camping, which I would hardly consider camping, but at least we're actually sleeping in tents). Friday we went white water rafting on Class III rapids on the Snake River, which was fun, albeit a tiny bit chilly. Today we headed to another chunk of the Snake River and canoed, which was mostly fun, but got old at the end.
Mom, Dad, and Bethany have returned from their hike, so now we're heading south, which (I think) means we're heading back to the campsite.
Yesterday the thought crossed my mind that if there were one place in Wyoming endowed with Sprint coverage, it would be Jackson. So I broke out my wireless phone at my campsite and got one bar. After supper and a tedious vespers service, I drove into Jackson, parked in the parking lot at the visitor's center (which was filling up with guests for the bar across the street) and got great coverage. I checked my voicemail and got Gem's phone number in Illinois. I called her and talked for a while. Now I have a quandary: my phone's batteries are dying, and I'm not sure if I want to hang out in the campground's restroom to charge it.
I still have no real idea what I'm going to do after I get married; I keep throwing my resume around hoping someone will actually look at it before pitching it to the bit bucket.
to "login" to Chiana, what would they say?
