Learned that sometimes things work out if you call the CEO of a publicly-traded company at home in the evening, especially if said CEO happens to be a family friend. Still undecided about exactly where I'll be working, as Option A (the second interview) has been dragging its feet. Option B (home to the friendly CEO) got more attractive after this evening phone call. So I feel confident that, by this time tomorrow, I will know what I'll be doing. (I think it'll be Option B, based on Option A's foot-dragging, but we'll see.) This new twist to Option B has nearly all the advantages of Option A, besides writing or tweaking eventually open-sourced kernel drivers. Plus, it's closer -- I don't have to commune up the Diagonal every morning.

Couldn't bear the thought of driving around on such a beautiful day, so I dropped two books, a pen, and a notepad in a satchel, threw it across my shoulder, slapped on sandals and a bike helmet, and biked downtown. Turned in The Postman at the public library, picked up a physical copy of the bus schedule for RTD's Route M (the online version was unreadable), looked around the Boulder Bookstore for a while, got an Orange Mocha Chip Frappuccino from Starbucks, found a bench, and read The Hobbit.

The Featured Journal Entry for this loosely-defined period is 24 March 1999, specifically paragraph 9. You'll have to visit other websites to figure out which reference this counter-reference is referencing.
