Installed Mandrake today. Figured out NIS and automounting. Checked out the codebase and watched it compile. Patched half a dozen source files to get the codebase to actually compile. My stay in Cubeville should prove most useful to my future as a super-wonderful hacker. Saw a first edition of Programming Perl and instructed a coworker to read the first three chapters and then jump to Advanced Perl Programming. Maybe tomorrow I'll start to decorate my cube. I have a huge whiteboard -- everyone does. It's cool. On Tuesday and Wednesday, I used it to hack out the logic for a text parser and a binary search tree. Way cool. Fun computer sciency-stuff. Fun for the whole family.
