Went bug-zapping today. Just like the joke about the old engineer. I spent most of the morning poking around the debugger figuring out exactly where it was segging (or technically, throwing an access violation exception, which was later trapped and recovered, but it wasn't supposed to happen at all) and much of the afternoon poking around to figure out exactly why it had an invalid pointer to dereference. (Pointer Fun With Binky came to mind.) It turned out to be a problem with overriding base methods in a derrived class. Four surgical strikes on four lines of code fixed it. Kinda like searching for a needle in a stack of safety pins. One minute changing the code, two days figuring out exactly what to change. I'm dying to see how it does on the regression tests now. This is fun: I'm the keeper of the build, the sole tester and bug zapper on this platform.
