In which the intrepid narrator finds his name written in random places around Scotland

Before I put my trip to Scotland to rest I have one more note: a few random sightings of my last name.

My last name, Logan, is a Scottish name, probably related to the town of Logan in the lowlands somewhere vaguely south of Glasgow. The latest genealogical research I've seen traces my branch of the Logan family back to my fifth-great grandfather, born in South Carolina in 1766. (So far I've been able to resist the siren call of doing my own genealogical research; I know that rabbit hole is much deeper than any I want to delve into, but I do find it interesting to learn exactly when and where and how my ancestors lived.) So while we can't yet decisively tie the name Logan back to the Scottish motherland, I did take note of the handful of times I spotted the name while in Scotland.

The first time I saw the name Logan was printed on the baggage claim carousel in Inverness airport, while picking up my rental car on Sunday afternoon. I assume it was the company that made it; I haven't tried searching further.

The other time was on the dedication plaque for a bridge crossing the River Ness in Inverness, just downstream from our hotel. According to the sign, the bridge was built by "Duncan Logan (Contractors) Ltd" in 1961.

I'm sure I could have spotted my name other places if I'd tried; but this was enough to prove some vague connection between my family name and my alleged motherland.
