Kiesa's piano arrived last night. Kiesa spent most of today rearranging her sheet music, which involved scattering piles of music all over the living room floor. Exciting indeed.

In unrelated news, I successfully resized Illyria's NTFS partition and installed Debian using a recent Sarge snapshot cd, which was cool. (It even managed to auto-detect my wireless card.) I'm not yet sure I like the position of the escape key; I keep hitting F1 instead. I still need to see if I can pull off accelerated 2d video; when I boot to the kernel I just compiled I'll see what happens. I'm getting used to the trackpoint; I even managed to crop the pictures above using it, which is more than I can usually manage with a touchpad.

Ok, well, the most obvious problem with [new years resolution
about getting a girlfriend] is that the intended outcome relies on
variables which are out of my control. It's a matter of chance,
luck, being in the right place at the wrong time, what have you.
Obviously, it also relies on the willful participation of
another human being. Since the only people we control are
ourselves, making resolutions -- promises to ourselves -- which
require the involvement of others, who may or may not want any
part of the game, is like sitting at home and cheering a
football team, and then saying "We won! We won!" when in fact
you had absolutely nothing to do with any of it. Or something
like that.
