My lungs have been colonized by some as-of-yet unidentified pathogen. I have a doctor's appointment in an hour; I hope she'll be able to successfully identify the microscopic imperialists and (with any luck) prescribe some industrial-strength twenty-first-century drugs to send them packing back to the motherland.

Of course, it's also entirely possible it's viral, and anti-viral drugs haven't quite made it into the mainstream just yet, especially for otherwise-healthy non-smoking twenty-five-year-old males. Maybe I'll be stuck with treating the symptoms (deep, often-painful cough; fever) and bedrest. I wasn't actually planning on doing much at work this week (since it is, after all, my last week), but I had expected to show up and try not to make it obvious I'm laughing at my coworkers.

The worst part is I started feeling lousy on Thursday and barely made it out of bed on Friday (which I had off, for Good Friday); I wasted an entire three-day-weekend unable to do anything. I did manage to drag myself out of bed long enough to see that not blowing out my sprinkler system was the worst thing I could have done; the PVC pipe feeding the manifold is shattered, and I'm going to have to rebuild the entire manifold before I even know if any of my lines need to be repaired. Part of my Epic Landscaping Plan for this year involves adding shrubs to various parts of the landscape; I want to add irrigation zones for these new plants, so rebuilding the irrigation system won't be an entire waste.

You will always find those who think they know
what is your duty better than you know it.
