I'm now posting from Illyria. I picked her up off my porch after a micro-caving adventure (I should post more later), unpacked her, fired her up, and shrank her NTFS partition for Windows 2000 in preperation for installing Linux. (I'm downloading the latest Sarge install cd at the moment.) Should be exciting.

I'm still trying to get used to the curious keyboard layout; I keep hitting Fn when I mean to hit control and F1 when I mean to hit escape. The trackpoint seems fairly responsive, although I still prefer a real mouse wherever available.

Illyria is so tiny! :) Much smaller than Elssebett and Blue; she might even be as small as Yukon, although far more powerful.

In unrelated news, Kiesa's grand piano, formerly occupying her parents' living room until she got a living room large enough to sustain it, arrived this evening. She's having a great time triaging her music books and playing.

I'll post pictures of our new toys soon. At least, that's what I keep telling myself.

Ok, well, the most obvious problem with [new years resolution
about getting a girlfriend] is that the intended outcome relies on
variables which are out of my control. It's a matter of chance,
luck, being in the right place at the wrong time, what have you.
Obviously, it also relies on the willful participation of
another human being. Since the only people we control are
ourselves, making resolutions -- promises to ourselves -- which
require the involvement of others, who may or may not want any
part of the game, is like sitting at home and cheering a
football team, and then saying "We won! We won!" when in fact
you had absolutely nothing to do with any of it. Or something
like that.
