Strobing

World-readable

I am glad to see that I am not the only one who notices that when watching broadcast television. Not to take a paranoid point of view, but I was once told (back in the 1980s) that subliminal messages were being "flashed" before us as we watched and that is part of the reason of the images moving so fast as we watch a commercial or a program. I also realize that it is to stimulate the attention and that is why so much "strobing" is being done. It is also fascinating to take an evening walk in the neighborhood and see just how much "flashing" is taking place as you look at peoples living rooms when you are going by as greatly demonstrated by the hyper reflection of light off of their walls. I have been interested to take a feed of broadcast TV and then slow it down to see if the subliminal theory is indeed correct. It would by no means suprise me to find that the advertising agencies would use these tactics to program people to purchase the product they are peddling. Nor would it surprise me to find that Hollywood was sending messages to influence the general American public to slant towards their point of view as well.
