Tabbed terms. Only way to go.
I've been using a package called Yakuake. It's a terminal emulator that follows the Quake Model -- you press a key and a terminal slides down from the top of your screen. And of course, it supports tabs.
So now whenever I want a terminal, I just press F12. It doesn't clutter up my taskbar, it's always available at the click of a key, and it supports a lot of what konsole does.
Your comment script doesn't convert newlines.
