Bujold

World-readable
I agree that Bujold is fantastic. I've lost count of the number of times I've re-read her Vorkosigan Saga and the World of the Five Gods. I nominated Gentleman Jole and the Red Queen this year but wasn't terribly surprised it didn't make it to the final ballot based on the Amazon reviews it got. I think it was too different from the previous books in the series for some long-time fans. I think it probably would have appealed to a lot of others that never picked it up because it was the latest in a very long series.
I was very happy that The Vorkosigan Saga won the best series award. Though, I'm a bit dubious about how that category would have worked long-term. I wasn't impressed with most of the other nominations (not that they were bad, just didn't feel quite like "best series" to me).
That said, I do really like both Jemisin and Leckie and was happy when they won their respective years. Though, I find Jemisin . . . hard to read. Her depictions of motherhood are complex and scarily believable in The Broken Earth series.
