This was posted to the BLUG mailing list last week:

Greetings. We are in the late planning stages for an event scheduled for the evening of Friday September 9 through the afternoon of Sunday September 11. The event, the Northern Colorado Hackathon, is kind of an extension of Hacking Society (http://www.hackingsociety.org/) to a weekend camping event with a bunch of (primarily Linux) geeks. We are still doing some planning, but I am figuring we will set up some play area and some hacking area.

There will be wireless and probably wired Ethernet with a connection to the public Internet, and lots of power. We plan to provide some food and snacks as well. The hacking area will be meant for geeking and geek discussion. The play side may include board and card games, chatting, and probably some projectors to do geek movies and deathmatch on PS2s once it gets dark.

So, here's the deal. It'll be at Boyd Lake park in Loveland. There is, not surprisingly, a lake for entertainment as well. We will have Internet via a wireless connection, possibly even quite speedy. We expect to provide some level of meals and snacks and are currently targeting $30, though I expect we may have to go up to $40, per person for the whole weekend. If you just want to stop by for a night or a day or something, it would probably be something less than this.

But, if you want to go, you *NEED* to let me know, by private e-mail, by August 24 at the latest. We have enough space for at most 36 people right now, but will reduce that if we don't have enough RSVPs by then. We will expand it if we have the demand. Note that one of the two spaces bordering our area is already taken, so the sooner we know the better.

Note that this is absolutely being done not for profit. If you RSVP and then can't make it, we can return whatever portion of the expenses that aren't already consumed. The space we cannot get money back on after the 24th, but food we will buy the day before.

If you want to leave it until the last minute, I'd be surprised if you can't find space at the park just by showing up. However, as I mentioned above, spaces are already being reserved by others. You will almost certainly have to find a spot away from where we are, possibly even in a different part of the park. You will also probably have to pay something around $52 for a camp site as opposed to the $10 per person we can do through group reservations.

If you are at all interested, please join the mailing list at:

We are planning and will finalize information there. If you want to go, *PLEASE* RSVP soon. If you know someone who may be interested, please let them now.

Thanks,
Sean

Sounds like it could be fun. (Too bad it's two weeks before the next Megafest.) Unless something catastrophic happens between now and when I send my reservation e-mail, I'll be there.
