Actually, I think the higher priced IBMs do come with touchpads (though they call them something else and the eraser comes along for the ride). It's just the one I could afford didn't come with that option. I realize that it may be a little . . . prejudiced to reject a notebook based on the pointing mechanism. However, I'm just not confident enough that I'd ever learn to like the eraser as much as I like the touchpad.
