I don't think it's prejudiced at all to select a notebook based on pointing device. (Or the keyboard, for that matter.) Pointing devices and keyboards are the things your hands touch to input information into the computer; if you can't stand $ARBITRARY_POINTING_DEVICE_X, it's a show-stopper.
Yukon had a trackball, which I actually kind of liked. I had to clean it every month, but I loved being able to reach down with my thumbs to nudge the pointer around while I was typing.
I look forward to the flame war that errupts when the erasor fans try to defend their point of view.
